The City of Salem, through the Salem for All Ages initiative and in partnership with the Salem Chamber of Commerce, has become the latest Age-Friendly Community to partner with its Chamber of Commerce and local business community on an Age-Friendly Business designation or certification.

Boston, Brookline and other communities have engaged businesses to become Age- and Dementia Friendly. The Alzheimer’s Association conducts community-based dementia awareness training, which includes businesses, municipal officials and first responders.

Salem is taking advantage of its “Salem for All Ages” website as a place for interested businesses to learn more and apply to attain the certification.

More background and info is available from the City of Salem’s press release on Age-Friendly businesses.
